Status  April 18 2011 - Preparing the site for the new shelter. Demolition of theold MUA  building


Status as of April
Montville Township has secured the propert  7 Church Lane for the animal Shelter.  The township has determined that the prefab steel building will not be used because of the cost of modifications and a decision was made to stick build.

The plans for the shelter were updated by the architects at The Bilow Group Architects & Planners.  Plans were reviewed by member of Members of Montville Pet Parents and a meeting was scheduled by the Township Subcommitee with the Architect, Township Administrator, Township Health Department to answer questions and concerns from MPP.

One item discussed was the dog kennel area. Sue Goldblatt, President of MPP indicated that the dog kennel system that has been used in another shetler facility in area should be included as one of the items in the new shelter. Cost estimates were provided.

MPP is working to have another meeting with the Township subcommitee and architect to see how the concerns raised are being addressed and getting more information on the construction costs. We want to work together to ensure the new shelter will meet the needs of the community and  provides a safe & healthy environment for the animals and the ACOs and volunteers.

Once we have a bit more information we will be working to find in kind donations for materials and also volunteers who may want to help with this project.

MPP has raised 80k toward this project!, As we raise funds through events and donations from individuals, community groups and corporations this pledge will grow. 

The pictures below show the current structure located at 7 Church Lane, the proposed floor plan (approx 2500 sq. ft) and the proposed site and survey for the new facility.
